A world-recognised expert in Russian politics and security, as well as in issues relating to transnational crime, intelligence and modern conflict, Dr Mark Galeotti read History at Cambridge University and took his doctorate in Government at the London School of Economics. Now a senior researcher at UMV, the Institute for International Relations Prague, and coordinator of its Centre for European Security, he has been a faculty member at Keele University and New York University, a visiting professor at Rutgers-Newark (USA), Charles University (Czech Republic) and MGIMO (Russia). He has been attached as an adviser to the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and consults widely for government and commercial clients across Europe and North America.

Anna Arutunyan

Anna Arutunyan is a Russian-American journalist and writer. She is the author of several books on Russian politics and society, including The Putin Mystique, and, as co-author, Freedom, Repression and Private Property in Russia. She has reported extensively on the nexus of power, crime and business in Russia during her work at The Moscow News, has covered the Ukrainian conflict for USA Today, and her articles have appeared in publications around the world. Since 2014 she has consulted widely in the private intelligence sector on Russian politics, business and corruption.
